What is Soul Voices Junior Choir?
Soul Voices Junior is a free to attend term time choir for children who just love to sing ! Funded by Family Hubs, part of East Sussex County Council for children ages 7 - 11, the choir is lead by Claude Lovett who has been teaching kids the joy of singing for over 8 years.
Children love to sing together, they learn more than just the songs in the process without knowing it and there are proven benefits to overall health and well-being too.
Here are just some of the benefits of singing for children:
What Will My Child Do At Soul Voices?
Each week at Soul Voices Junior we will do more than just singing including:
- Physical and vocal warm up
- Games to help the group get to know each other
- Team building activities
- The chance to suggest songs that they like
- Learn one song each week
- Songs are taught using a listen and repeat method to be fully inclusive
- Get recordings of the songs we are practising to sing along with at home
In addition to this during the term the children that want to will have the chance to sing solo or in small groups within our songs, which helps boost their confidence even more.
During the last session of each term, the children will perform some of the songs that they have learned for parents / carers so that you can come and enjoy their singing too.
When & where is it?
We meet on Wednesday afternoons in term time only. The sessions run from 4.15pm - 5.15pm at Foresters Hall, Harcourt Close, Uckfield Uckfield TN22 5DT (see map for directions)
Terms dates are below and there is a performance at the end of each term.
Places are limited, so please make sure to secure a place for your child now.
Autumn Term
4th September - 23rd October - 6 Week Term (Two weeks off - October 1st & 9th)
Christmas Term
6th November - 11th December - 6 Week Term
Winter Term
8th January - 12th February 2025 - 6 Week Term
Spring Term
26th February - 2nd April 2025 - 6 Week Term
