What is Soul Voices?

It's a non- audition choir for people who just love to sing - and you don’t need to be able to read music! Everyone is welcome and you don’t need any experience of singing in a choir. Just a passion to use your voice and hear it join with others.

Claude Lovett - Choir Leader

Hi, I’m Claude Lovett, a professional vocalist, vocal and musical theatre teacher, living in a village near Lewes in East Sussex.

I’ve been passionate about singing since I was tiny, and began working professionally when I was barely in double digits in the West End. I signed a singing contract in my late teens, I’ve been to X-Factor Boot Camp and performed as Diana Ross on Stars in their Eyes, but nothing beats the thrill I get out of teaching people to sing.

I am Musical Director and Co-founder of Lilley Lovett Theatre Group and I’ve been teaching musical theatre to children for the last 6 years. In recent years we’ve produced Alice In Wonderland, The Jungle Book and The Lion King and I’m always blown away by the incredible sound that the children make singing together.

It's because of this that I’ve been inspired to launch Soul Voices. There really is no need to be able to read music to join us - a little secret here - I can’t, and it’s never stopped me! 

I know that everyone can sing - in my years of teaching I’ve yet to meet anyone that really can’t, and I find myself incredibly excited by the sound that the choir creates. It’s totally inspiring.
